EAL in the Mainstream Classroom

Research published by the Education Endowment Foundation indicates that the EAL in the Mainstream Classroom programme may give a small boost to the GCSE science results of pupils for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL). The programme, developed by Challenge Partners, is designed to provide professional development for teachers to enable them to better support these pupils in the classroom. The study was conducted by Professor Louise Tracey and Dr Erin Dysart from the Inclusion, Childhood and Youth Research Centre in collaboration with Dr Jan R. Boehnke at the University of Dundee and with colleagues at the University of York.
