Learning in Inclusive Knowledge Societies after COVID-19

This online event, which took place on 25th May 2021, brought together key actors from the academic and the non-academic sectors to explore the multiple links between learning, intersectionality, and inclusion in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event was organised jointly by the Inclusion, Childhood and Youth Research Centre, the Centre for Research in Digital Education and the Centre for Disability Studies, University of Leeds.

In this session, chaired by Prof. Neil Morris, Dr Bronwen Swinnerton presents her recent research work. Dr Swinnerton is a Senior Research Fellow in Digital Education at the School of Education, University of Leeds.

Roger Slee: Disability and Belonging in an Age of Exclusion

In this session, chaired by Dr Angharad Beckett, Prof. Roger Slee presents his recent research on learning and inclusion. Prof. Slee was appointed Diamond Jubilee Chair in Disability and Inclusion in the School of Sociology and Social Policy, University of Leeds, in 2021.

Gill Main & Amelia Gunn: Listening to the experts: Children’s knowledge, poverty research & practice

In this session, chaired by Dr Angharad Beckett & Prof. Stuart Lister, Dr Gill Main & Amelia Gunn discuss their recent research and policy-related interventions with regards to children's poverty in the broader area of Leeds. Gill Main is an Associate Professor in the School of Education, and Amelia Gunn is a Senior Policy Development Officer at Leeds City Council.
